Traders at the Police Officers Wives Association shopping complex in Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos have condemned the planned demolition of the complex.
According to Channels, the Lagos State Government has served a 24-hour quit notice on all the traders at the complex.
Latest development from the complex indicates the possibility of the execution of the demolition any moment from now.
According to information from journalists at the complex, it was gathered that traders at the complex are worried over the impending demolition of their stores.
“So we’re currently in the very popular Computer Village. The tenants of these shops here seem desperate and confused.
“They’ve received reports about the urgent need for renovation work, and their shops are expected to be demolished soon. The faces of the shop owners reflect their concern and questions about why this is happening now remain unanswered.
“We’ve just arrived, so details are sketchy. This isn’t the first time; they were notified about a demolition in 2019, and now again in 2023. Some are already moving items out in preparation for the worst,” the reporter stated.
In an interview with the chairman of the complex, the chairman stated,”It’s unfortunate that we face this from a developer who’s been intent on demolishing this place since 2019, due to monetary issues.
“When we received the invitation from True Power College, we tried to engage with them, but they were determined to proceed. We escalated the matter, reaching out to the IG wife, who denied any involvement or knowledge about the issue.”
