There was an uproar on social media on Thursday as suspected bandits were seen in a viral video flaunting bundles of the newly released naira.

While the origin of the video is yet unknown, one of the viral videos showed the suspected bandits seated with tons of bundles of the new naira notes.

In the video making rounds on the social media showed another suspected bandits allegedly bragging about the possession of the new naira notes.

Additionally, he claimed that he had enough fresh naira notes to buy more firearms.

This development has left many Nigerians on social media angry as they have been subjected to a tough time acquiring the new naira notes.

The clip has been confirmed by a former Director, Defence Information, Major General Jimmy Akpor.

According to The PUNCH, he identified the identity of the bandit in one of the videos as Kachalla.

It was gathered that Kachalla was one of the 19 bandits/terrorists kingpins that were declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters in November 2022.

Below are some of the reactions culled from Twitter.

@MrOdanz, tweeted, “A bandit leader in Zamfara shot a video where he was bragging of having N10 million worth of the new Naira notes while brandishing some in his hands.

How did the new Naira notes make its way to the hands of terrorists and bandits while they’re scarce for law abiding Nigerians?🤦”

@Shemz tweeted, “This is not right, Bandits, terrorist already have the new naira note and yet ATMS and Banks are yet to dispense the new Naira Note, what’s a shame.”

@snnbiafra tweeted, “In the north, the new naira notes have been distributed even to bandits & herdsmen. While in the Eastern region, people are yet to touch this new naira after depositing their old money in the bank. Economic, psychological and physical warfare at play, yet you talk about election.”

@Akwaranduedo tweeted, “CBN @cenbank says New naira notes will curb kidnapping. But there’s this viral video of bandits with the same notes.
What it are we to believe now?”

@Oshion5, tweeted, “Bandits have the new notes and some people are still happy that buhari changed the old notes because they believe Tinubu would not have access to it. Law abiding citizens can’t even get #50,000 new notes but terrorists have 10 million naira new notes. Na we de do ourselves”.
