The Katsina State Government has disclosed that its Internal Generated Revenue increased to N10,670,299,951.37 as of August 2022.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Abdullahi Abubakar, disclosed this during an interactive press session on budget breakdown, recently.
He said, “During the 2023 budget defence exercise, it was observed that the Internal Generated Revenue as of 31st August 2022 was N10,670,299,951.37 from the projected figure of N53,337,911,966.00 which represents 20.01 per cent.”
Abubakar attributed the poor collection of revenue to the new tax rates yet to be implemented and non-compliance with accounting extent rules and procedures on part of revenue officers.
He, however, highlighted that six ministries received special attention funds of N138.1bn in the 2023 budget.
The ministry of environment received the highest allocation of N31.7bn representing 17.25 per cent; the water resources got over N29.2 billion; health N23.9 billion; works N20.9 billion; education N18.6 billion and agriculture N13.6 billion.
Abubakar maintained that despite the turn of events, the capital expenditure performance stands at N102,476,564,682:30 which represents 22.55 per cent of the 2022 revised budget.
