A transgender prisoner, identified as Sophie Eastwood, has been moved to a female prison cell after pleading that she might not survive a male prison facility.
According to UK Daily Mail, Eastwood, changed from male to female but now identifies as a baby in the Scottish prison.
She began her transitioning journey while in prison in 2017 and was once identified as a male named Daniel serving at Dumfries Young Offenders Institution for haza
rdous driving and was a month away from being released when she strangled cellmate Paul Algie, 22, to death with shoelaces in 2004.
The killer stated that being transferred to a female prison was a relief since she would have been sexually violated if see she had been in a male prison.
She said, “The main threat was that I would suffer serious sexual violence. It was a relief to be moved to the female estate where I have felt safe and I’ve gained the trust of fellow prisoners.
‘I think Scottish Prison Service staff manage trans prisoners well but it would be impossible for me to feel safe in a male prison.”
Last year, Eastwood said she was a baby. Now, she wants guards to hold her hand and asks for baby food and diapers.
