After the 2023 presidential and national assembly elections, the Lagos State police command has promised to stifle any attempts by any organization to instigate unrest with ruthless force.
This comes as rumours of a potential post-election crisis in the state by some forces who may want to vent their discontent through violence continue to circulate, especially on social media.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, responded to the threat by saying that the police were aware of the plans to cause chaos after the election.
“Available intel suggests some people have concluded plans to foment trouble & wreak havoc. Kindly note that such attempts would be crushed decisively. Our election security architecture has not been drawn down. Anarchy will not be allowed! Remain law-abiding. Be guided!” he tweeted.
The police election security infrastructure was still operational and would be deployed to cope with the anticipated rebellion, he said, adding that intelligence assessments made available to the force corroborated the suspicion.
He also made a plea to the people of Lagos to uphold the law as the police are well-equipped to do so.
