Kano State Fire Service has stated that fire gutted at least 37 shops at Zawaciki area of Kumbotso Local Government of Kano State.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the spokesman of the service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, who disclosed noted that the fire occurred at about 01:37 a.m. on Wednesday.
Abdullahi said, “We received a distress call at about 01:37 a.m. from one Malam Baba that there was a fire outbreak at Zuwaciki.
“We quickly mobilised our personnel to the scene at about 01:47 a.m. and put out the fire so as not to spread to other shops.”
Abdullahi stated further that the 37 shops were on the ground floor of a multi-purpose building.
He noted that three other shops were slightly damaged by the fire.
The Fire Service spokesman, however, pointed out tha no life was lost, and the cause of the inferno was being investigated.
