The Adamawa State Police Command has said it arrested two suspected kidnappers.
The State Police Command Public Relations Officer Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, adding that the arrest was effected in collaboration with hunters.
Nguroje explained that the police and hunters, on Sunday, acted upon information and luckily arrested the two suspected kidnappers who were on the wanted list of the command for allegedly kidnapping one Saddam Ahmadu of Belel in Maiha Local Government Area and one Buba Adamu of Shani LGA in Borno State.
The statement said the suspects, Ahmed Muhammad, 37 years old and a resident of Song LGA; and Muhammed Haruna, 25 years old and a resident of Jambutu in Yola North LGA, were arrested in their hideout in Ngurore in Yola South LGA after they collected a N4,700,000 ransom from the relatives of their victims.
The police said one AK-47 assault rifle with 25 rounds of live ammunition was recovered from the suspects.
The statement added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, commended the Police Crack Squad and the hunters for the community policing strategy that ensured the successes recorded.
“Interestingly, one AK-47 assault rifle with 25 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
“The Commissioner of Police (CP) Dankombo Morris Psc (+), while expressing happiness, commended the Commander, Crack Squad and the hunters for the community policing strategy adopted, leading to the successes recorded, and urged them to sustain the tempo.
“The CP assured of diligent investigation and prosecution of the suspects,” Nguroje said in the statement.
