The Bayelsa State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a suspect identified as David for killing a policeman at a new generation bank on Sani Abacha Road Yenagoa.
According to the Sun, the suspect was also said to have stolen the victim’s riffle.
It’s been gathered that the Commissioner of Police, Ben Nebolisa Okolo, had ordered the police to arrest David and recover the stolen rifle.
David was introduced to other members of the security team and bank executives by the deceased, a police corporal named Bob from Nembe, as his kinsman from Liama in the Brass Local Government Area.
Due to his friendship with Bob, David, who was rumored to be residing on the bank grounds, ambushed the deceased on Wednesday afternoon (December 29), shot at close range, and then made off with the weapon.
The spokesman of the command, Mr Asinim Butswat, stated that the operatives of the Operation Restore Hope led by the Commanding Officer, Chris Nwaogbo are investigating and making efforts to recover the missing rifle.
