The national electricity grid has collapsed again throwing some parts of the country into a widespread blackout for the sixth time in 2022.
The National System Operator’s data showed that as of 12 noon today no power generation plant was on the grid.
This is coming after the most recent national grid collapse occurred on June 13, 2022.
The PUNCH reports that the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc has declared a system failure and added that the current blackout is affecting the entire South East.
The announcement contained in a statement by the power distribution company issued in Enugu on Monday was signed by its Head, Corporate Communications, Mr Emeka Ezeh.
In Lagos, the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company has also announced a power failure in the State.
As obtained via its verified Twitter handle, it said, “This is to inform you that the outage you are currently experiencing is due to the system collapse of the national grid, which occurred earlier today at 10:50hrs. This has affected the Transmission Stations within our network and resulted in the loss of power supply to our customers. Kindly bear with us as we await the restoration of the grid.”
