The Edo State Police Command has apprehended four individuals, Fredrick Emmanuel (32), Abulhamid Isiaka (39), Johnson Segun (44), and Akiola Igbenro (49), in connection with the alleged diversion and illegal sale of 60,000 litres of diesel.
According to Daily Trust, the arrests were made based on a petition filed by Frank Obum against his driver, Fredrick Emmanuel.
The driver was entrusted with transporting 60,000 litres of diesel worth N72 million from the AA RANO Depot in Apapa, Lagos State, to SETRACO Construction Company in Kano State. However, the driver allegedly diverted the product.
According to the police spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, the driver deceived the owner by claiming that the vehicle was faulty and required a new engine, and subsequently switched off his phone.
After an investigation, the police tracked down the driver in Dangbala community in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State.
The driver later led the operatives to Kogi State, where the three individuals allegedly involved in the illegal reception of the product, Abulhamid Isiaka, Johnson Segun, and Akiola Igbenro, were arrested.
