Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ilorin Zonal Command, uncovered the enclave of some internet fraudsters and arrested 19 individuals in a sting operation in Lokoja, Kogi State, on Sunday.

A statement by the EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwajuaren, said among the arrested suspects was a member of the National Youth Service Corps serving in the Kogi and 18 others suspected to be students of tertiary institutions.

The EFCC spokesperson said the suspects were smoked out of their hideouts by operatives of the agency following credible intelligence on the activities of the fraudsters in the state’s capital city and its environs.

“The suspects include a serving corps member in the state, Adamu Shuabu, and 18 others.

“They include Achimugu Ojonoka, Victor Atsumbe, Akoh Samuel, Usman Sadiq, Jacob Emmanuel, Solomon John, Christian Oyakhilome, Adesanya Tosin, Uloko Ojonugwa and Timothy Moses.

“Others are Negedu Onuchei, Usman Tenimu, Lukman Musa, Samuel Atadoga, Daniel James, Abdulrazaq Iko-Ahnod, Olarewaju Olumide and Ademola Daniel.

“Upon their arrest, a Lexus car, huge sums of money suspected to be proceeds of illegal activities, different brands of phones, laptops and other incriminating materials were recovered from them,” the statement added.

Uwajuaren said the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.
