Four persons have been reportedly burnt beyond recognition when a commercial bus caught fire at the Fidiwo area of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Ogun State.

Our correspondent gathered that the bus had a tyre burst, lost control, somersaulted and eventually went up in flames.

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Command, confirmed the incident.

The State Public Relations Officer of the FRSC, Florence Okpe, said the crash occurred at about 2:25pm on Tuesday around Ogunmakin.

She said four deaths were recorded from the road crash,  adding that the dead victims were “burnt beyond recognition.”

Okpe added that the registration number of the Toyota Hiace bus was also burnt.

She said, “The suspected causes of the crash were speed, tyre burst and loss of control. The vehicle somersaulted and went into flame.

“The injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, and some to Idera Hospital, Sagamu,” she added.

Meanwhile, the FRSC has commiserated with the families of the victims of the crash, advising motorists to always check their tyres and avoid speed violation.
