The 2023 deputy governornship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Funke Akindele, has deleted all politics related posts from her Instagram page.

Findings revealed that contents found on her page at the time of filing this report were on personal posts and movie promotion contents.

This comes few hours after Akindele and her Party, PDP, lost the governorship election in Lagos State to the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who has been announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission as the winner of the election.

Akindele lost her polling unit, 019, Ita Aro Square, Àga/Ijimu ward in Ikorodu, Lagos State, to the All Progressives Congress.

Sanwo Olu polled a total of 77 votes to defeat PDP’s Olajide ‘Jandor’ Adeniran, and his running mate, Akindele, who scooped a total of 19 votes.

She also lost her local government, Ikorodu Local Government Area by a large margin to the APC.

Sanwo-Olu polled 64,697 votes, while the Labour Party candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, polled 13,207.

Akindele’s party, PDP polled 3,797, to come third in her local government.

Recall that the actress turned politician had earlier stated that her 20 million followers would vote for her in the governorship election.

In an interview on Channels TV, on the 15th of July, 2022, she stated, “I have fans and followers, I feel their pains, I am going out there now to proffer solution, I am going in for my fans, for Lagosians, it is time for a positive change.

“Jandor has the number, I have the number, I have fans and followers. I have over 19 to 20 million fans on social media. I also have lots of people at the grassroots. I have fans at the grassroots level, everywhere. I am coming in for the lives of Lagosians”.
