Gombe State Police have stated that the killing of a 21-year-old man, Usman Adamu, had no connection with the jubilation rally held in the area.
The victim was allegedly stabbed to death by suspected hoodlums, who also took his phone, at Anguwa Uku on the day Governor Muhammadu Yahaya visited to express his gratitude to supporters.
The police confirmed the incident and stated that investigations were ongoing, with no arrests made yet. The police spokesperson, ASP Mahid Abubakar, noted that the investigation would reveal more details about the incident.
He said; “It’s confirmed he (Adamu) was stabbed by thugs and his phone was snatched but so far there is no arrest made. As for now, the investigation is ongoing.”
“No connection with the Jubilation rally of His Excellency for now, but any development will be communicated. The investigation will reveal other facts that’s why I said for now.”
The father of the deceased, Adamu Ali, has called for justice and urged law enforcement agencies to uncover the cause of his son’s death.
However, there has been no announcement of a condolence visit from the government to the family.
