Nigerian music sensation, Naira Marley, has stepped into the forefront of the battle against drug abuse, aligning himself with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

The agency’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), welcomed the artist on August 17, 2023, as Naira Marley paid a visit to the NDLEA’s National Headquarters in Abuja to pledge his support for the War Against Drug Abuse.

The surprising alliance between Naira Marley known for his heavy intake of Indian hemp and other narcotics, and the NDLEA has sparked a flurry of reactions across the nation.

The photograph capturing the Chairman and the music star, flanked by the Agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, along with members of Marley’s team, Sam Larry, Dami Marshal, and Chuddy Naira, has ignited a range of emotions from Nigerians.

Amid the diverse opinions, an Instagram user under the handle “efosaim” injected a touch of humor, stating, “We play too much in Nigeria.”

However, others conveyed a sense of discomfort, with “styledbyzinah” commenting, “This is a disgusting picture,” and “devon_sophiaa” remarking, “Must be a joke.”

The unexpected pairing has left many incredulous, as “ebukslala” exclaimed, “Wonders truly shall never end,” and “pr0gatti” pondered, “Why I be Nigerian God?”

Naira Marley’s involvement in the War Against Drug Abuse also triggered satirical reflections on the state of affairs in the country.

Instagram user “kaykay_de_goodboi” quipped, “Naira don get evidence, lol Nigeria. give the fish to cat to keep lootoo, Abeg make I no explain taya cx I no get evidence.”

Similarly, “omobolanle_ii” humorously mused, “Lol this people funny una won use naira Marley do wetin again? Naira Marley ke? Infact me I don know say naija don turn upside since when una don elect Tinubu.”
