A gang of armed men on Thursday morning razed Nnewi South Local Government Area in Ukpor, Anambra State. One person was allegedly killed in the incident.

Eyewitnesses said the dead victim was one of the security men in the council secretariat. Panic has heightened around the council as residents are fearing for their lives.

The Anambra State Police Command spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, said “It is a suspected case of arson, the information is still sketchy.”

Although the spokesman did not confirm if there was any casualty, he added that more operatives had been deployed in the area and Fire Service was contacted.
