The Taraba State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, has disclosed that road accident has reduced in the state as a result of its enlightenment campaign.
Sector Commander of the state FRSC, Abdulmaliq Bello stated this while speaking with journalists on Friday in Jalingo, the State capital, promising to reduce road crashes to the barest minimum.
He added his major priority in the state is to ensure that road casualties are reduced and if possible, brought to an end.
He said, “Where accidents will result in no death is what I am fighting for, there may be crashes, fine but they should not result in death”.
Bello disclosed that the command has succeeded in enforcing Speed Limit Devices, which, according to him, have been yielding positive results.
He explained that a special team deployed to the command have taken it upon themselves to visit the various motor parks on a daily basis to enlighten motorists on the need to drive with care to avoid road accident.
While acknowledging that the Nigerian roads are littered with potholes, he said the availability of speed limits signs on highways is enough to prevent drivers from overspending.
”The incessant enlightenment campaign by the command has been yielding positive results; to be honest, road crashes have reduced in the state.”
